Wansford Pharmacy is a rural based pharmacy providing healthcare services to Wansford and the surrounding villages.


NHS Services we Provide

We dispense NHS prescriptions (paper and electronic) and will give advice on how to get the most benefit from your medicines.

We keep a comprehensive stock of medicines in our state-of-the-art robot and use an efficient wholesaler service to enable us to dispense all prescriptions promptly.

Our staff can also advise you on safe storage of medicines.

We are able to dispense NHS repeat prescriptions issued by your doctor. Please feel free to contact us for more information about this service.

Please return all unwanted medicines to the pharmacy, where we will dispose of them safely.

Our pharmacist and trained assistants are available to provide advice on all medicines and minor ailments. We can also advise you on how to lead a healthier lifestyle from giving up smoking or improving your diet. We can also direct you to other sources of advice and assistance if we cannot help you ourselves.

The Pharmacy takes part in the Public Health campaigns and can help you identify ways in which to lead a healthier lifestyle.

We keep records of all your prescriptions dispensed by us, as well as records of other services we provide to you.

This helps us check for possible problems, such as reactions between medicines, and will help us deal with any queries you may have.

Our pharmacy professionals also consult records to support your care, such as NHS summary care records and local shared care records.

We comply with the Data Protection Act and the NHS code of practice on confidentiality. If you want to discuss the records we keep, please speak to a member of staff.

When you are prescribed a medicine to treat one a range of long-term conditions for the first time, the pharmacist will support you to use the medicine safely and to best effect.

Our pharmacist will talk to you about one to two weeks after you first receive the medicine

to see how you are getting on with it and to discuss any problems you may have with the medicine. A second follow-up appointment will be 2 weeks later, when you can catch up with your pharmacist again to see how you’re getting on. 

In hospital, the medicines you take may be changed, or new medicines prescribed. The pharmacy may be informed of these changes so that we can provide advice and support to you with the medicines you will be taking after your visit to hospital. We can also liaise with the hospital and your doctor if this is necessary.

Each year we provide an NHS flu vaccination service to people aged 18 years and older who are eligible to receive a free vaccination. Ask us for more information about eligibility for this service.

We are registered to provide Covid Vaccination’s from the Pharmacy. Ask us for more information about when we are running clinics and eligibility for this service.

High blood pressure is a condition which can be controlled to reduce your risk of a heart attack, stroke or other cardiovascular disease. We are offering free NHS blood pressure checks with no appointment necessary. Following this, you may be invited to take home a monitor that measures your blood pressure as you go about your daily life. Depending on your readings, you may be referred to your GP.

Other Services we provide

We dispense private prescriptions issued by your Doctor, Dentist and Veterinary Surgeon.

We keep a wide range of over-the-counter medicines and related products. Our staff members can help you to select the most appropriate products for your needs.

If you need one of your regular prescribed medicines in an emergency when you are unable to contact your doctor, we may be able to help.

This can only be done in genuine emergencies and may incur a charge. Please contact us for more details.

Your doctor is also able to request an urgent supply on your behalf.

We have a consultation room available if you’d like to discuss something in private. Just ask a member of staff to speak in private.

Our aim is to give the highest possible standard of service. If you would like to tell us what you think about the service or have any suggestions in ways in which we can improve our service to you please speak to a member of staff.

We operate a complaints procedure as part of the NHS system for dealing with complaints. Our system meets national criteria. Our pharmacist will give you further information about this.

Access for people with Disabilities

The pharmacy is suitably equipped to accommodate patients with disabilities. The surgery has a disabled toilet, there is wheelchair access and there is parking for the disabled.

Threats of violence or abuse of our staff

Our staff work hard to provide you with the best possible service. Please treat the members of the pharmacy with the courtesy and respect they deserve, we are not obliged to serve abusive or violent customers.
